Who are we?

GL Noble Denton has been providing process engineering technical support and consultancy to the international oil and gas industry for over 40 years.

As an Engineering Consultancy we are presented with a variety of different projects from our clients all around the world. Our wide range of work cover areas such as: Design, Optimisation, Safety Analysis and troubleshooting on a variety of conceptual and existing assets/facilities. For example these include onshore and offshore gas processing facilities, subsea pipelines, gas processing and storage terminals, LNG facilities and FPSO's (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading).

Whether you are a Chemical Engineering graduate or a student considering a career within Chemical Process Engineering, GL Noble Denton provides a unique opportunity to gain invaluable oil and gas consulting experience, working on a wide variety of exciting international projects alongside our industry experts.

You'll get plenty of opportunity to apply your Chemical/Process engineering knowledge gained at University, utilising your skills in steady state and dynamic process simulation packages, design and awareness of process safety and gas processing. We will also help you develop effective team working, consulting and communication skills along with exposing you to broader commercial aspects, to aid your progression towards becoming a chartered engineer with the Institute of Chemical Engineers (IChemE.)

In return you'll need an inquisitive mind, thrive on applying innovative solutions to complex problems and relish the challenge of juggling the delivery of multiple customer projects. You'll possess a passion for ongoing personal development, enhancing your skills, knowledge and expertise to become either a technical expert, a manager of technical projects or maybe a leader of a team within your chosen field. Perhaps you will have the ambition to lead a business unit and help shape our future strategy and direction?

So what would I do?

Those who join us either as a Graduate or on an industrial placement get involved in real work! As a graduate we want to challenge, stimulate and develop you, maximising your potential. As a placement student we give you real insight into what a career in Chemical Process Engineering would be like to allow you to decide whether a career in this field is for you.

You'll find support and advice whenever you need it, but if you are looking for an easy ride, this really isn't the place for you. Don't believe us? Here are just some of the exciting projects our recent graduates and placement students have worked on:-

• Process modelling of an offshore platform to determine how much methanol is being exported to shore
• Modelling of an entire LNG supply chain, from gas collection, through LNG processing, to shipping in order to identify debottlenecking opportunities.
• A wax deposition study to determine the likelihood of a fluid to deposit wax along a pipeline, between the seabed and the riser
• Design of silica gel adsorption plants in Australia and Russia to remove water and heavy hydrocarbons from natural gas.
• Technology review around carbon capture, examining market readiness and future potential for a range of cutting edge technologies and processes
• A review of the use of LNG as shipping fuel, investigating technical, regulatory and market issues along with potential worldwide growth of the industry
• Modelling of gas processing requirements and costs for the European Union as part of a study examining the feasibility of standardising the gas quality specification across Europe
• Testing the suitability of different adsorbents to be used in an ANG (absorbed natural gas) storage vessel, as part of a project aiming to use ANG as an alternative to venting
• A feasibility study assessing the possibilities available for extending the life of a gas storage facility.
• Conceptual design and costing of a range of technologies carrying out different processes to allowing the client to assess which markets to concentrate marketing in.

Within these projects, you will have the opportunity to become involved in:-

• Site visits
• Design work - sizing, design layouts
• Presentations
• Client interaction
• HAZOPs
• Report writing
• Process modelling - we use a variety of industry relevant software
• Safety verification
• Cost benefit analysis
• And much more

As well as working on these jobs within the process team, you may also be working with teams from other disciplines such as safety and risk, mechanical engineering etc.
