Our experts are qualified in a wide range of different types of degree disciplines and this contributes to the varied mix of skills and experience that makes us such an exciting place to work.
To assist our ongoing growth plans we are looking for Graduates or a student looking for an industrial placement who are studying for or holding degrees in one or more of the following disciplines:-
Mathematics / Statistics:- Graduates with a degree with a high statistical, mathematical or operational research content are ideally suited to the work that we do. Your understanding of statistical methods and their application, dealing with abstract concepts, analysing complex data, finding patterns, drawing conclusions and providing clear and effective solutions are all what makes us successful.
Computer Science / Software Engineering / IT:- Graduates use their skills and knowledge to develop and deliver software to our clients. You'll be involved with all aspects of the software development lifecycle from requirements capture, through to analysis and design, development, testing, deployment, user support and training, utilising the latest tools and technologies.
Physics:- Physics graduates also often possess the key skills and attributes we need in our business. Using your analytical and problem solving skills you will bring your expertise of dealing with abstract concepts, complex data and applying these to help provide solutions to implement our software in our clients' environment.

You may look to join professional organisations such as IMA (Institute of Mathematics and its Applications), RSS (Royal Statistical Society), IMechE (Institution of Mechanical Engineers), BCS (British Computing Society) amongst others and can progress to chartered status within a few years.

Software Solutions provide a unique opportunity to gain invaluable "hands on" consulting and commercial experience. Working alongside our technical experts on a wide variety of challenging projects, you'll be involved in the design and delivery of these from your first day with us!
Our projects typically involve analysis of energy industry related data, integrating, testing and supporting the eventual solution. This can be forecasting future gas demand, building low level energy consumption models on a household basis, looking at the impact of renewable energy, analysis of unidentified gas and how this should be allocated to different sectors of the gas industry, analysis of water demand and a variety of other energy related data projects.
One of our recent graduates has been involved in Beywatch, a high profile European funded project examining energy consumption in houses and investigating what this will look like in the future. These projects attract significant interest from major energy companies and senior government officials, underpinning key decisions made as they plan the future.
Other exciting projects include the implementation of "Forecaster" for gas transmission and distribution networks including National Grid and Scotia Gas Networks and gas shippers such as Centrica and Eon.

These projects all require rigorous analysis and attention to detail. Data quality can vary in the energy industry and you'll learn how to question and investigate data issues, understanding how they impact on your analysis. You will use statistical tools or write programs to help solve problems and carry out the analysis required to produce informative well written reports.
Rest assured, you'll be exposed to a variety of challenging projects and even those that appear similar are often very different, presenting unique problems to overcome as you deal with new clients, cultures and ways of working.
Utilising your skills gained at University, experience from projects you are assigned, the development and mentoring you will receive, all equip you to progress your career with us. You will also be challenged to take on more responsibility and own client relationships as your skills and expertise evolve.
As a placement student we give you real insight into what a career in our industry would be like to allow you to decide whether a career in this field is really for you. Ideally a Business or IT undergraduate, you will be ideally placed to provide a responsive and valuable technical support and customer service to our clients across the globe, You will gain experience in managing support issues to tight service level agreements and communicating with a broad range of customers from diverse backgrounds, understanding both their business needs and the role of bespoke software applications within their organisation . Working alongside our software development teams and project managers will help develop both your technical and softer skills, giving you the perfect introduction to a career in this area.
