Travel Requirement: Reasonable Internal Travel & Travel within Asia Region

Supporting and leading the technical output of the Risk and Safety Practice through input to, and governance of, the delivery of relevant projects and to strongly support business development activities.

Through close working with key internal and external stakeholders, the role is responsible for developing new practice offerings as appropriate to the strategy for the business, acting as a key interface with customers and providing technical / project leadership within the practice or in support of cross-practice/GL Industrial Services consultancy.  Key accountabilities will include:-


Authoring technical review and issue of reports.  presenting results, conclusions and recommendations from safety & risk consultancy work, as appropriate to our customers.


Working with the Safety & Risk management team to:
Secure safety & risk related consultancy work for the S&R team through business development activities including engagement with potential and existing clients.
Prepare and/or review proposals and scopes of work for potential consultancy opportunities.
Promote the capabilities of GL Industrial Services through attendance and presentation at industry events, conferences etc. as appropriate to the business.


Preparing and/or reviewing cost estimates for consultancy projects.


Providing general technical support and guidance to the S&R team and its management as requested.

Providing staff development, training and coaching to relevant GL Industrial Services staff through technical support and guidance during project development and delivery.

Preparing and/or reviewing consultancy reports and documentation.


Support Managers in revenue generation & project delivery through identification of potential out-of-scope activities on consultancy projects.


Provide insight into client business needs and future initiatives and opportunities - may be used as input to the Practice Business Plan

Person Specification

To be successful in this role, and our business, you will need to demonstrate the following qualification, professional expertise and personal attributes:

Technical / Professional Expertise

  • Significant technical experience of operating in the oil/gas or other relevant industry in a consultancy (or equivalent) role.       
  • Significant direct risk and safety experience in the oil & gas industry.
  • Recognised as a technical expert within identified areas which are applicable to Safety & Risk (S&R) Practice offerings
  • Qualified in relevant engineering or scientific/numerate discipline - ideally Chartered status (or equivalent)
  • Good business development skills - demonstrated ability to bring customer negotiations to a productive closure
  • Self motivated and record of achievement in both delivery and business development
  • Strong team leadership and technical vision in areas of expertise
  • Be comfortable interacting with a diverse group of people, as well as communicating and working with numerous business units within the parent organisation
  • Well versed with the consequence models i.e. FRED, HG System, and PHAST etc.
  • Experience in conducting risk assessment studies, onshore QRA & Offshore QRA.
