The GL Noble Denton Structural Integrity Management Competency Centre and fixed structures team based in Slough, (UK) is focused on delivering structural integrity and structural design services to a range of offshore oil & gas assets worldwide.  We have an exceptional team of structural engineers providing consultancy services primarily to the oil and gas industry, both in the UK and worldwide.

To further enhance our integrity management capability within our organisation, we are seeking a structural design specialist with work experience gained within the offshore oil and gas industry.

The work focuses on managing offshore fixed structures, involving life extension, maintaining analysis models, assessing and designing modifications, maintaining Written Schemes of Examination, overseeing sub-sea and above water inspections, investigation of anomalies, designing repairs and maintenance of inspection records and storage of structural data.

Person Specification

To be successful in this role, and our business, you will need to demonstrate the following qualification, professional expertise and personal attributes:

Technical / Professional Expertise

  • Qualified to degree level in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Demonstrable track record of successfully delivering structural design scopes of work, to time, cost and quality
  • Proven structural design capability gained within fixed offshore oil and gas structures
  • Practical experience in the design of steelwork and its connections (both bolted and welded) and ability to assess adequacy under modified loads
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of working in accordance with international codes and standards e.g. API RP2A and AISC
  • Preparation of bid / tender documentation and proposals  for scopes of work in addition to other business development activity
  • Evidence of training / mentoring colleagues in structural detailed design an advantage

  • Enhanced Analysis and Assessment skills - ability to solve Structural Engineering problems using engineering judgement and principles
  • Delivery-focused, able to manage and prioritise multiple tasks to tight deadlines
  • Effective communicator with enhanced oral and written presentation skills
  • Organised and proactive; Takes personal ownership to ensure achievement of goals and targets
