Water

Who are we?

The water practice of GL is one of the newest and fastest growing teams within our organisation. Building on our experience in water network simulation modelling our water practice has developed a range of services to the water industry, leveraging the core capabilities of the wider GL group and innovating new approaches to industry problems.

We provide services in the following areas including:-

  • Asset Management
  • Infrastructure Operations
  • Supply and Demand Management
  • GIS and Modeling
  • Energy Management
  • Software

As global water resources become increasingly scarce, water companies must manage available supplies efficiently, operating their assets in the most efficient and safe manner possible. Focussing on these core requirements our team has developed methodologies and working practices designed to ensure that asset owners and operators are able to meet these increasing challenges. We have an enviable track record in designing, developing and implementing solutions for clients to ensure their assets are designed, managed and operated in a sustainable and compliant manner.  We work with many of the major water companies in the UK, including Anglian, Severn Trent, Thames and Yorkshire Water.

What would make me suitable?

There is no simple answer to this!  Our water team includes engineers from a variety of different backgrounds and this mix is what makes us successful.

If you haven't studied for a specific Water Engineering Degree, you would typically bring a degree and a passion for either Civil, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.

As an engineering graduate, we value your skills in analysing and interpreting data, problem solving and developing innovative solutions. Working on modelling, optimisation and leakage projects requires considerable analytical and organisational skills to rigorously analyse water network assets, identify anomalies and propose solutions to enhance performance, reduce costs or improve customer service.

You'll possess a passion for ongoing personal development, enhancing your skills, knowledge and expertise to become either a technical expert, a manager of technical projects or maybe a leader of a team within your chosen field. Perhaps you will have the ambition to lead a business unit and help shape our future strategy and direction?

Our team are recognised innovators in the industry and we're looking other like minded engineers to join the team so we continue to develop and stay at the leading edge of the industry.

At GL Noble Denton the possibilities are endless. What can you make of them?

So what would I do?

Being a small team, graduates play a pivotal role in our water practice. You will provide valuable support on a variety of customer projects including Burstfinder leakage detection optimisation, hydraulic network model builds, demand forecasting and asset failure consequence analysis.

As a graduate we want to challenge, stimulate and develop you. Typically you'll be contributing on real projects almost straight away and quite often leading us in new ways to approach a problem or improve our approach - this is actively encouraged!  Daunted? Don't worry, you'll receive all necessary training and coaching to be successful and as active supporters of CIWEM  (Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management) we provide mentoring to aid the progression towards Chartership. Likewise, the wider GL group can provide support with alternative accreditations if that is preferred.
